Does the Government Really ‘Support the Troops?’

“They are a new generation of activists that are traveling from Main Street USA to the hallowed halls of Congress to make their voices heard. And this time, they’ve got the Internet, over 200,000 IAVA members, and every American they’ve touched behind them. They landed in Washington with their passion and their love for country on their sleeves. CPT Melinda Russell even brought her service dog, Willow. Specialist Ann Weeby brought her 6-week-old son. Corporal Aaron Mankin brought a body covered with burns. And they all brought tremendous heart.

They are America’s combat veterans. And they believe, as George Washington once said, “When we assumed the soldier, we did not lay aside the citizen.”*

Politicians and conservatives are quick to say, “Support the troops!” But where is the action? Our veterans are suffering with massive health problems and PTSD, waiting and waiting for benefit checks. Is it any wonder the veteran suicide rate is so high? Ana Kasparian, Steve Oh (COO of The Young Turks), and Desi Doyen (Green News Report) discuss.

Children Horribly Deformed by US Chemical Weapons in Iraq

“In 2012, European researchers visited a scrap metal site in Al Zubayr, an area near Basrah in southern Iraq. A local police officer told them that the site had at one time held military scrap metal from the bloody battles waged during the American invasion. A local guard told the researchers that children had been seen playing on the scrap during that time, and both adults and children had worked disassembling the military leftovers. At one point, the guard said, members of an international organization with equipment and white suits showed up, told guards that the site was very dangerous and “quickly ran off.”*

The depleted uranium usage in Iraq left lasting effects, on our own troops and in babies born with horrifying deformities in Fallujah and Basra. Sad news from the world of comets: Frank “Iceman” Comatail, a member of the comet community for 6.1 billion years, committed suicide Saturday by diving headfirst into the central star of a random planetary system in the outer arm of the Milky Way galaxy.

Reportedly, some sick and twisted observers on one of the orbiting planets cheered the video of his death on something called a “Tumblr”, with some going so far as to comment “OOOOOOOH COOL” at the sight of his tragic but spectacular demise.

The comets have declared this an act of war and will launch their kamikaze retaliation at some point in the next 3-4 billion years.
