Thousands of patterns that are similar to the Nazca lines found in the Middle East
 "Satellite and aerial photography has revealed mysterious stone ‘wheels’ that are more numerous and older than the Nazca Lines in countries such as Syria, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The structures are thought to date back 2,000 years, but why they were built is baffling archaeologists and historians.‘In Jordan alone we’ve got stone-built structures that are far more numerous than the Nazca Lines, far more extensive in the area that they cover, and far older,’ David Kennedy, a professor of classics and ancient history at the University of Western Australia, told Live Science.

Gates: No More Mideast Wars

Some strong words from Robert Gates: The defense secretary said Friday it would be a terrible idea for the U.S. to begin another military conflict. “In my opinion, any future defense secretary who advises the president to again send a big American land army into Asia or into the Middle East should ‘have his head examined,’ as General MacArthur so delicately put it,” Gates told an audience of West Point cadets. Another warning: Gates said a decade of constant conflict has created a junior officer corps with exceptional leadership—but due to constraints in paying for combat troops, these recruits will be stuck in bureaucratic work, something that “terrifies” him.
